Accepted Answer

The prospects board lists ranked players with their stats, ratings, Perf+, Bowman 1st auto prices and recent sales. Question 2

The release calendar: upcoming and recent sets

Accepted Answer

The release calendar is where you browse upcoming and recently released sets. Sort and filter to find the products you care about, and open any set for its details. Each set can show two different dates, and it's worth knowing which is which. The release date is when a product actually hits shelves. The preorder date is the earlier day you can place an order for it. Release is always on or after preorder. Not every set has a preorder date on file. Want a heads up when something drops? In the mobile app ( More , then Releases ), open a set and tap the bell to follow it. When it says Alerts on ,

Question 3

What is "fair value"? (and why it's a score, not a dollar amount)

Accepted Answer

Fair value is a 0 to 100 score , not a dollar figure. It's a quick read on how a prospect stacks up: higher means a stronger overall profile. Because it's a rating and not a price, you'll never see it with a dollar sign. On the website it appears as the Value column on the prospects board and as the Value Score (out of 100) on a prospect's page. In the mobile app it shows as a score out of 100 with the prospect's other investment numbers. Use it to compare prospects at a glance, then dig into the stats and card prices for the full picture. Value scores for every prospect come with Premium.

Question 4

Adding your own prospect rating

Accepted Answer

Have your own read on a prospect? Open the prospect and give him a 1 to 5 star rating. Your rating sits next to the HobbyMonitor rating and the community average, so you can compare your view with the board. You can do this on the website and in the mobile app, and you can change your rating any time. In the mobile app, open a prospect and tap Your rating . Pick 1 to 5 stars and tap Submit Rating . Your rating then shows with the HM rating and the Community average, along with how many people rated. ![Rating a prospect in the mobile app, with five stars, Submit Rating, and the HM, Your, and Co

Question 5

Hot Alumni and momentum

Accepted Answer

Hot Alumni surfaces graduated prospects (players who've reached the majors) who are gaining momentum based on recent performance and market interest. It's a quick way to spot former prospects whose cards are trending back up. On the website, the Hot Alumni list sits on the prospects pages, and the Alumni link at the top of the prospects board opens the full alumni list. In the mobile app, a graduated player shows an Alumni tag on his prospect page.

Question 6

Accepted Answer

Question 8

Market indices and the Bowman 99

Accepted Answer

Market indices track price trends across a basket of cards, so you can see how a whole segment is moving rather than one card at a time. Each index starts at 100, so a reading of 112 means the basket is up 12% since it started. ![The market indices page with index levels, 30 day trend lines and the Bowman 99](https://api.hobbymonitor.com/v3/images/articles/support prospects market indices 01 tiles.png) The Bowman 99 tracks the PSA 10 value of Bowman 1st autos for 99 of the most graded active prospects, with every card weighted equally. Open any index to see its history and the cards inside it.

Question 9

The wax (sealed product) tracker

Accepted Answer

The wax tracker shows current prices for sealed hobby boxes and cases next to retail (MSRP), so you can see at a glance how far above or below retail a product is running. Prices are the middle of current listings, not completed sales. ![The wax tracker showing box and case prices next to retail, with the percent above or below retail](https://api.hobbymonitor.com/v3/images/articles/support prospects market wax tracker 01 boxes.png) Filter by sport and year, and sort by recently updated, year, name or percent vs retail. Question 10

The break calculator and group breaks

Accepted Answer

The break calculator helps you work out fair per team or per spot prices for a case break. On Free it splits the cost evenly. Premium and Pro can weight spots by market value, and Pro can save, share and download calculations. The breaks section lists break products by set and format. Open one to see its teams or spots with pricing: Free shows the top spots, and paid plans show every spot plus price history. Both are on the website.

Question 11

How are prospect scores and ratings calculated?

Accepted Answer

Our prospect scores come from a proprietary model that weighs on field performance against market signals to land on a single, comparable number. We surface what the score means and how to read it, but the exact formula stays under the hood. For a plain language gist of our performance metric, see the Perf+ page.
